shop the waiver wire, and they were as good as their word
Sunday. In need of a backup RB behind starter Chester
Taylor, with Mewelde Moore missing the last 3 exhibition
games because of a knee injury, the Vikings claimed and
were awarded Artose Pinner, who was released Saturday after
three seasons with the Detroit Lions.

: Lions TB Artose Pinner is feeling the pinch
for playing time. Since last year, the Lions signed free
agent Arlen Harris and drafted Brian Calhoun. Pinner,
drafted in 2003, had 12 yards on four carries in the
exhibition opener against Denver and had a 6-yard TD run.
Pinner is a solid, intense competitor. He figures if he
plays well, he will win a job somewhere. "This is a what-
have-you-done-for-me-lately league," he said. "I figure as
long as I keep working, keep studying, get in the playbook,
do some extra things, things will fall in place. If not
here, maybe an opportunity will present itself somewhere
else."

#5 with Kevin Jones out. While prior stats show the Lions
will have a major issue running, keep in mind the Lions
have several matchup advantages on the o-line and will try
to leverage Damien Woody and even Stockar McDougle. Keep in
mind, Atlanta's defensive coordinator Ed Donatell's unit is
much smaller up front and that's a good thing for power
runners like Pinner and S. Bryson. Speaking of Bryson, he
should be plenty active as a receiver coming out of the
backfield as well.
