Hospitalist Medicine

A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital. During your inpatient stay at Day Kimball Hospital, Hospitalist services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Hospitalists generally do not have an outpatient medical practice. Hospitalists are Board Certified Internal Medicine physicians. Some hospitalists are trained as specialists in pulmonary/ critical care medicine, cardiology, or other subspecialties.

Hospitalist's:

  • Assist you through a smooth and speedy recovery process by keeping a close eye on you
  • Assist your primary care doctor to be more available in the office by decreasing delays and interruptions during your visit
  • Are available around the clock to answer questions
  • Communicate with your primary care doctor on a frequent basis before, during and after your hospitalization regarding your condition, treatment needs and follow-up
