Brenda Senecal Named July Employee of the Month at Day Kimball Healthcare
Brenda Senecal, RN, clinical coordinator, Day Kimball Healthcare, is the organization’s July Employee of the Month.
PUTNAM, CONN. – Brenda Senecal, RN, has been named employee of the month for July at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH). She is a clinical coordinator in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Day Kimball Hospital.
“In her 31 years at DKH, Brenda has had a significant impact on patient care,” said Carol Howland, vice president of patient services/chief nursing officer at Day Kimball Healthcare. “She has been a mentor and preceptor to many staff members; physicians call upon her as the clinical expert. Most recently, Brenda served as super user and informatics representative for her unit during a recent computer implementation. She was instrumental in making this transition seamless.”
Senecal began working at DKH in 1981. As clinical coordinator, her responsibilities include ensuring overall quality care delivery, which encompasses such areas as awareness of, and responsiveness to, patients’ needs; management of nursing staff; serving as patient and staff advocate; and practicing cost control.
“I was surprised and honored,” said Senecal, concerning her award recognition. “I have mixed feelings about awards like this because I feel that everyone works hard and tries to do their best.”
Senecal is a graduate of Newton Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing. In 1993 she was voted Day Kimball’s Nurse of the Year, and in 2012 she was recognized as a DKH Nightingale Award winner, both honors were a result of peer selection. Senecal resides in Putnam, Conn. with her husband, Glenn, and son, Andrew.
Howland concluded: “Brenda has truly achieved a life-long legacy in cardiac care.”
