Comprehensive Sports Medicine Services Available in Northeast Connecticut


Dr. Jeffrey Manning is now offering sports medicine services to Northeast Connecticut through Day Kimball Healthcare.

PUTNAM, CONN – Day Kimball Healthcare’s Physician Services of Northeast Connecticut announces that Dr. Jeffrey Manning has joined the organization and offers sports medicine services at Sports Medicine Associates, located in the Danielson Healthcare Center at 55 Green Hollow Road.

Sports Medicine Associates, a new practice within Physician Services of Northeast Connecticut, opened January 3, 2011. Christine Vallee, vice president of physician services commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Manning to our organization to lead the efforts of our newly created practice, Sports Medicine Associates.” She continued, “Dr. Manning’s background and expertise will be valuable to the residents of Northeast Connecticut who seek comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation for a variety of injuries.”

Dr. Manning is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and sees patients of all ages. After receiving his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine, Dr. Manning completed his residency in family medicine at Brown University and fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Massachusetts. He also holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.

As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Manning manages sports related problems such as non-operative orthopedics and concussion and utilizes cutting-edge techniques for the diagnosis and management of sports-related injuries and illness. He has worked extensively with pediatric, adult and masters athletes, and understands how to care for each of these populations. Dr. Manning will create a customized plan for each patient to help him or her return to competition, or even their daily activities, as quickly and safely as possible.

Dr. Manning has a strong background in research and is passionate about patient education. Throughout his career, Dr. Manning has completed numerous research projects in sports medicine and has been published in several sports medicine publications. He is a faculty member at UMass Medical School and Brown University teaching musculoskeletal medicine to medical students, resident physicians and fellows. Dr. Manning uses his skills as a teacher to make sure patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options before leaving his office. As a former college athlete and high school coach, Dr. Manning brings a unique perspective to his role as a sports medicine physician.
