Day Kimball Healthcare Announces Scholarships for Students Pursuing Healthcare Careers

PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Healthcare’s Development Office is now accepting applications for the 2010 Susan Chilkott and Thomas C. Deary, Jr. Memorial Scholarships. These scholarships are given annually to individuals who reside in Northeast Connecticut and are pursuing careers in healthcare.

A selection committee for each scholarship will review all applications and award scholarships based on the application, academic transcript if applicable, letters of recommendation, personal statement submitted by the applicant and a personal interview before the scholarship committee. Eligibility is open to residents of Ashford, Brooklyn, Canterbury, Chaplin, Eastford, Hampton, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Sterling, Thompson or Woodstock. For additional eligibility guideline information, please visit www.daykimball.org and search “Scholarships.”

“These scholarships assist students of Northeast Connecticut with the financial burdens of higher education,” said Pat Hedenberg, Day Kimball Healthcare event and appeals manager. “This is a great way for Day Kimball to give back to the community that so generously supports this organization.” In 2009, scholarships were awarded to 13 students.

The application period for both scholarships ends April 15, 2010. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact their high school guidance office, call the Day Kimball Development Office at (860) 928-7141, email phedenberg@daykimball.org or download an application at www.daykimball.org.
