Day Kimball Healthcare to Host Community Forum on Understanding Your Hospital Bill

PUTNAM, CT – On Wednesday, April 21, 2010, Day Kimball Healthcare will host an information session for community members who would like to gain a better understanding of hospital bills from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Members of the Day Kimball Hospital’s business office management team will explain the components of bills, offer pertinent information regarding insurances and payment and provide answers to common questions such as:

• Why didn’t my insurance pay for my service in full?
• Why am I being billed for a service I didn’t have done?
• Why am I receiving bills from other providers for a service that was done at Day Kimball?

“As both governmental and commercial insurance payers become more restrictive and complicated with respect to plan coverage guidelines, the consumers of healthcare are the ones left without adequate answers to many of their questions,” said Sarah Ginnetti, director of revenue cycle. “Through this forum, we hope to provide information for community members that will be useful in learning about the basic foundation of hospital billing and how to make sense of it.”

The forum will be held at Day Kimball Hospital in the RHF Conference Center #2. All attendees will be entered in a raffle to win a $50 credit towards an outstanding hospital bill and light refreshments will be served.
