PUTNAM, CT –Day Kimball Healthcare's 259 active adult volunteers were celebrated last Thursday at the annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon for giving over 32,000 hours of service within the hospital and its satellites. Over 100 volunteers received hour-recognition pins ranging from 100 hours of service to 19,000 hours of service. Day Kimball Healthcare volunteers work in 38 hospital departments and account for 16 full time employees with the number of hours served. Escort volunteers run an average of 100 errands per day throughout the hospital and the Hospice of Northeastern Connecticut volunteers drove over 8,700 miles in the past year. Janet Johnson, Coordinator of Volunteer Services, said, "Our volunteers are wonderful people who generously donate their time to our hospital and its patients. Without our volunteers, the hospital would not function as it does; they are truly an asset to our organization." Aside from Johnson, others who spoke to volunteers and offered thanks were Robert Smanik, President & CEO, John Miller, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sandra Bucci, Senior Vice President of Patient Services, and Nancy Morrow, Vice President of Development.
