Day Kimball Joins Panera Bread in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Healthcare recently joined in Panera Bread’s Pink Ribbon Bagel project to raise funds for the Day Kimball Healthcare Deary Memorial Cancer Fund and promote breast cancer awareness.

In conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Panera Bread in Lisbon, CT will bake pink bagels in the shape of a ribbon, the universal sign of support for breast cancer awareness. Panera Bread will then donate $.25 from each bagel sold to the Day Kimball Healthcare Deary Memorial Cancer Fund.

In addition, the Panera Bread at Lisbon Landing will also be offering a “Cater Pink” program, where 10% of catering sales throughout October will also be donated back to Day Kimball. Interested parties do not have to work for the hospital in order to help Day Kimball Healthcare get the credit; friends, family and supporters of the hospital are all encouraged to participate. To take part in this fundraiser, call the Panera Bread in Lisbon at (860) 376-9100 and ask for the Catering Coordinator, then place an order off the catering menu. Menus are available at the café or www.paneracatering.com and be sure to reference “CATER PINK.”

The Panera Pink Ribbon Bagel project follows the tradition of “thinking pink” during the month of October in the quest to eradicate breast cancer. Sue Stees, one of Panera Bread’s first franchisees and a breast cancer survivor, developed the idea for the Pink Ribbon Bagel in 2001 as a way to help support the cause. Today, the program is employed in all of Panera Bread’s more than 1,150 bakery-cafes across the country. The Panera Bread Pink Ribbon Bagel Program is designed to support selected local hospitals in their efforts to increase awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection and prompt treatment.
