Thompson Native, Timothy Monahan, MD, is Accepting Patients
PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Healthcare’s Physician Services of Northeast Connecticut announces that Thompson native, Dr. Timothy Monahan, has joined the organization and offers dermatology services at the Danielson Healthcare Center at 55 Green Hollow Road.
According to Christine Vallee, vice president of physician services, “The need for a dermatologist in Northeast Connecticut has been increasing and Day Kimball Healthcare is pleased to respond to this need by providing dermatology services through our integrated healthcare system.”
Dr. Monahan is the only dermatologist in Windham County to be board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and sees patients of all ages. After receiving his medical degree from the MCP-Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Dr. Monahan completed his internship at the Tripler Army Medical Center and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
During his internship at Tripler Army Medical Center, Dr. Monahan worked with three Army dermatologists who introduced him to the specialty. He said, “Dermatology is fascinating and intellectually stimulating. I like the fact that dermatologists treat patients of all ages and get training in pathology, surgery, lasers and medical dermatology. This specialty gives me a chance to interact with most of the other medical fields in some manner.”
Dr. Monahan was a member of the U.S. Army for 20 years and most recently was the chief of dermatology at the Army Hospital supporting the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. Dr. Monahan also spent 14 months in Iraq supporting the troops with medical care. “After being in the Army, I wanted to focus on patient care,” said Dr. Monahan. “Day Kimball Healthcare allows me to focus my energies on taking care of patients with skin issues. I am grateful to be able to practice a specialty that I love and to also bring this specialty care to an underserved area.”
Currently living in Woodstock with his wife and children, Dr. Monahan enjoys tennis, beekeeping, travel and history. Dr. Monahan is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment with him, please call (860) 779-1865.
