The 23nd annual Deary Race, Walk & Ride will take place on August 11, 2012. In 2011, the event raised more than $50,000 to benefit the Deary Memorial Cancer Fund! Combined with other events over $114,000 was contributed to the Deary Memorial Cancer Fund in 2011. History of the Deary Memorial Road Race, Walk & Ride
The Deary Memorial Road Race & Walk began in 1990 and has collectively raised more than $1,000,000 to provide preventive care and cancer-related services to individuals in our community who may not otherwise have the necessary financial resources. This event has also become a hallmark community gathering which starts with a kick-off celebration complete with local guest bartenders, team challenges to raise the most pledges, and a beautiful Recognition Garden that blooms long after the event is over. Businesses and individuals alike from all areas of the northeast corner of Connecticut come together to remember, celebrate and honor both cancer survivors and those taken from us by cancer.
It’s through the support of many that the Day Kimball Healthcare Deary Memorial Cancer Fund is able to change the life of an individual. Monies raised at this event subsidize mammograms, ultrasounds, medications, travel and surgical procedures for people in the local community needing financial assistance. Additionally, the fundraiser supports The Tom C. Deary Jr. Scholarship awarded to students pursuing a career in radiology. All monies raised remain local.

The race starting location, JD Cooper’s in Putnam is only 40 minutes from Worcester, Providence, Norwich and Hartford via Route 44 or I-395 making it easily accessible for all enthusiasts.

Waiver: I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, waive all rights and claims for damage arising from my participation in the race/walk that I may have against sponsors, organizers, race officials and volunteers, municipal officers and the successors and assignee of the aforementioned. I also waive any rights and claims I may incur against the Putnam Special Service District and the Town of Putnam during my participation in the race/walk
