Philanthropy Department
Announces Warm-Weather
Fundraising Events
Like many community hospitals, Day Kimball relies on contributions from
its friends and neighbors.Thoughtful gifts of all sizes make patient and
community outreach possible. While there are many ways to contribute,
one of the most enjoyable ways is to participate in one of Day Kimball’s warm-weather fundraising events.
Last year, these events raised more than $207,000.
This summer, Day Kimball Hospital’s Philanthropy
Department has a full slate of activities planned. First
up is the 18th Annual Twilight in the Country dinner
stroll and concert, which will take place on Sunday,
June 10 at Greystone Farm in Thompson. Festivities
start at 5 p.m. with wine and hors d’oeuvres, followed
by the dinner stroll. The American Band performs at
7 p.m. with dessert to follow. Proceeds from this
event benefit Hospice and Palliative Care of
Northeastern Connecticut.
Motorcycles, classic and antique cars are invited
to participate in the 4th Annual Cruisin’ for Cancer
Poker Run, which will take place Sunday, June 24.
All proceeds benefit the Deary Memorial Cancer
Fund, which helps community members with cancer
screenings and oncology-related services.The 65 to
75-mile cruise starts at 10 a.m. from the Putnam
Municipal Parking Lot.
The 23rd Annual Day Kimball Hospital Golf Classic is
scheduled for Monday, July 16 at the Tunxis Plantation in
Farmington. This event remains one of the most popular
golf tournaments in the region because of the commitment
of our sponsors and level of quality offered. All
proceeds benefit the annual Day Kimball Hospital Giving
Appeal. Proceeds from last year’s tournament helped
support a number of Day Kimball Hospital services
including Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Department,
Rehabilitation Services, Oncology and Pediatrics.
Another wonderful community event planned for
2007 is the 18th annual Deary Memorial 5-Mile Road
Race and Walk.This year’s race
will take place on Saturday,
August 11. As with Cruisin’
for Cancer, all proceeds from
the Deary Memorial Road
Race will benefit the Deary
Memorial Cancer Fund, so
your participation will help
provide free mammograms
and other cancer services to
members of our community.
If you’re not a biker, a golfer or a runner, another way to get involved and contribute is to
volunteer at one of these events.“We have tremendous volunteer support and these events
are highly successful because of our volunteers,” says Tori Bates, Interim Director of Philanthropy. “The events run like clock-work and it’s because of the loyal volunteers who come out year after
year. But we always welcome new volunteers, so come discover what Day Kimball Hospital is all about this summer at
our warm-weather fund raising events.”
