Letter From the President
Dear Community Members:
I invite you to join me on a path of discovery this year. It’s a journey that begins
simply by reading the following pages, and hopefully continues with your participation
in upcoming Day Kimball Hospital events.
DKH has so much to offer our community, starting with the comprehensive acute
care services provided on our main campus in Putnam. In this newsletter,we take a
closer look at Day Kimball’s expanding geriatric program that aims to provide a
continuum of care to our growing population of seniors.
Our travels continue beyond Putnam, down many roads and highways across
Northeastern Connecticut, into the towns of Dayville, North Grosvenordale,
Plainfield and Danielson where DKH operates outpatient health care centers. In this
publication, you’ll meet some of our neighbors who tell us how the convenience of
having pediatric, rehabilitation, laboratory and women’s health services located close
to their homes truly makes a difference in their lives.
From here we can continue in a variety of directions. Why not make a stop at one of
DKH’s community lectures? Once again, the hospital is taking health care education
on the road in our 2007 Community Lecture Series, featuring a wide range of topics
such as osteoporosis, depression, immunizations and sleep disorders.
I encourage you to keep your calendar handy through this ongoing journey of
ours. There are important charity events that offer you fun opportunities to directly
support DKH and the patients we serve. Our upcoming fund raisers include Cruisin’
for Cancer, a motorcycle and classic car run on June 24, and the inspirational Deary
Memorial 5-mile Road Race and Walk on August 11. Both events benefit the Day
Kimball Hospital Deary Memorial Cancer Fund, which helps qualified, local residents
pay for their cancer care services.
Without involvement and charitable giving from people like you,we could not
continue to fulfill our mission, expand our programs and reach further into the
community, year after year.We greatly appreciate your ongoing support!
As you venture out on the roads during the spring and summer months, please take
the time to “discover DKH” along the way. Best wishes for safe and healthy travels!
Sincerely,
Robert E. Smanik, FACHE |
