The American Red Cross will host a June Blood Drive at Day Kimball Hospital

PUTNAM, CT – The American Red Cross will host a spring blood drive at Day Kimball Hospital on Friday,
June 8 from 12:30 to 5:45 p.m. The drive will be located in the Hospital’s Robert H. Field Conference Center. All donors are asked to enter the Hospital through the rear laboratory entrance.

“We need all the help and donations we can receive from people in all communities due to the upcoming summer season,” said Ann Harford, a representative from the American Red Cross. “There are many reasons for less blood being collected in the summer including, families are taking vacations, people are busy with work, and the fact that high schools and colleges are not in session. I strongly encourage anyone who is interested in donating blood, to please call and schedule an appointment.”
According to Harford, the average blood supply is three to five days, but the American Red Cross currently has less than one day of type O negative. She continues that blood type A negative and B negative, are less than three days. Remember, blood supplies are low during the summer season and just one pint of blood can save up to three lives.
