Marjorie Roy, UR/PCT, of the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit Named Day Kimball Hospital’s June Employee of the Month


Marjorie Roy, UR/PCT, of Day Kimball Hospital’s Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit was selected as the organization’s June Employee of the Month by the Employee Council.

PUTNAM, CT –Day Kimball Hospital announces that Marjorie Roy,
Unit Receptionist/Patient Care Technician (UR/PCT) of the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit is the hospital’s June employee of the month. The Employee Council, a group of 20 hospital representatives, selected Roy as the employee of the month after reviewing various nominations from the hospital staff.

“Marjorie is a dedicated, hardworking employee who takes great pride in her work,” said Roy’s supervisor, Deborah Kulsic, MSN, RN, director of the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit. “Many of us know Marj for her generous, caring and compassionate nature and recognize her worth to our organization.”

Roy joined the night shift staff on Day Kimball’s Med/Surg/Peds Unit following eight years as a certified nursing assistant at a local nursing home. Her co-workers admire her technical skills and job knowledge. She has a special talent with patients and their families, placing them at ease and offering exceptional patient care. A hard worker, Roy goes out of her way to touch the lives of her co-workers and patients. She frequently offers little gifts to brighten others’ days. She is extremely organized, and is always willing to do extra bed baths, EKGs and any other tasks that will help staff on the next shift. A true team player, Roy is loved by all who know her.

“Out of all the deserving staff who work at Day Kimball Hospital, I am flattered and honored to be chosen as the June employee of the month,” said Roy. “I am still shocked by the nomination. We all try to do the best job we can, and give the best care possible to patients and their families – that’s what’s most important.”

Roy continued saying that her job in healthcare was meant to be. “My position at Day Kimball helped give me experience with Hospice and cancer patients, and enabled me to care for my sister who had breast cancer for eight years.”

Marjorie Roy lives in Woodstock with her husband, Richard. The couple has two grown children, Jonathan Roy and Jennifer Kindle, and three young grandsons.

On Wednesday, June 27, Day Kimball Hospital will host a celebration reception in honor of Roy’s achievement. Her department, fellow colleagues, and family will be invited to attend.
