News & EventsDay Kimball Hospital Communications Campaign was Recently Honored with a Lamplighter AwardPUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital’s Corporate Communications Office was recently notified that the organization is a recipient of a prestigious Lamplighter Award. The recognition was given in the category of “Advertising-Print” for the 2006 orthopedic surgery series including orthopedic patients and physicians Drs. Scott Green, Christian Dee, Kevin Reagan and Biren Chokshi from The Center for Bone and Joint Care in Putnam. The Lamplighter is awarded by the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo), and is given for the “Best in New England for the best overall entry from all the first place winners.” "Day Kimball Hospital is proud to receive independent recognition and validation for the high quality of our advertising efforts,” said Robert E. Smanik, FACHE, President and CEO. “Our ads strive to demonstrate how the healing and lifesaving work done by physicians and staff at Day Kimball Hospital makes a tangible difference in getting people better and back to their lives.” The Lamplighter Awards competition is open to all public relations and marketing professionals employed by New England healthcare institutions, health plans and agencies. The competition offers three awards categories including, First Place, in which one entry is awarded per category; then Awards of Excellence are presented to entries which deserve recognition in each category; and finally The Lamplighter is given for Best in New England. “Dr. Scott Green, orthopedic surgeon, speaking on behalf of the Center For Bone & Joint Care stated, “The marketing campaign sponsored by Day Kimball Hospital was an effective and creative vehicle for our practice to communicate how providing excellent care can affect a persons quality of life. The ads also underscored the important role that a strong alliance between Day Kimball Hospital and our practice can play in providing quality care to the communities we serve. The response we’ve received from our patients has been very positive.” Day Kimball Hospital’s orthopedic surgery series was developed in conjunction with Miranda Creative, headquartered in Norwich, CT. In addition to submitting its orthopedic series, Day Kimball Hospital representatives were required to submit a challenge statement, or the “story behind” the entry. Included was the project’s objective and goals, its budget, how it was implemented and evaluated. All winning NESHCo entries will be displayed at the organization’s Spring Conference.
