News & EventsDay Kimball Hospital Invites Public to a Retirement Celebration in Honor of Dr. Garfield “Woody” Danenhower, Pediatrician
PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital announces the recent retirement of long-time pediatrician, Dr. Garfield “Woody” Danenhower. Dr. Danenhower dedicated his career to treating and caring for the children of Northeastern Connecticut. He started his career at Day Kimball Hospital’s Pediatric Centers immediately after he served in the military, 34 years ago. After 34 years of practicing pediatrics, Dr. Danenhower said he will miss, “All of the excellent people I work with and those wide-eyed, bright-eyed little kids who are so open, so impressionable. That age, those years, are so priceless; and the newborn babies, holding a healthy newborn is a very nice, warm feeling.” Throughout his career, Dr. Danenhower witnessed many advances in pediatric care in Northeastern Connecticut. He saw a shift from treating pediatric crises to a general concern for a child’s overall health and wellbeing. Dr. Danenhower is also proud of the relationships that the Pediatric Center staff have developed with other physicians in the community, local schools, community groups and the Day Kimball Hospital Birthing Center. Day Kimball Hospital will be hosting a retirement party in honor of Dr. Danenhower on Wednesday, April 16 at the Gold Eagle Restaurant in Dayville from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a brief speaking program at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served at Dr. Danenhower’s retirement celebration.
