Day Kimball Hospital Announces 2006 Employee of the Year!
PUTNAM, CT – On Thursday, January 11, Day Kimball Hospital announced at its Annual Corporators’ Meeting that Alex Williams, MS, RPT is the organization’s 2006 employee of the year! From a dedicated group of twelve employees of the month, Day Kimball Hospital’s Employee Council selected Williams for this annual award.
“I am honored to be chosen as Day Kimball Hospital’s 2006 employee of the year,” said Williams. “I truly enjoy my profession, and working with my patients and the community. I am grateful to my wife, Naomi, who supports my commitment to my career, and to my supervisor, Kim Wanegar-Nation, who continues to help me grow.” Williams concluded his remarks by congratulating all of the employees of the month on their nominations.
On staff since 2000, Williams was also honored as the August employee of the month. A native of England, he relocated to Putnam after completing his education at Husson College in Bangor, Maine. According to his peers, he demonstrates a strong commitment to the hospital and the local community. In his career with Day Kimball, Alex has developed strong relationships with the Emergency and Prompt Care Department, Pediatric Center, local school systems, and physicians’ offices.
“Alex is an extraordinary physical therapist and individual,” said Kim Wanegar-Nation, Director of Rehabilitation Services. “Alex has a way of making each patient feel like they are the most important part of his day. He is also a primary resource for his fellow clinicians and many physicians, as well as, a mentor for our community. Alex always goes the extra mile and puts the best interest of our patients, community and hospital first and foremost.”
In addition to his work at the hospital, Williams has given his time to the community by providing education programs to the public. Williams has also committed countless hours to local high school sports teams, dance schools and individual athletes. He provides interested high school students with the opportunity to job shadow careers in physical therapy.
Alex Williams, and his wife, Naomi, live in Putnam with their young son, Alex whom they affectionately call, “A.J.”
Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Day Kimball is served by more than 1,000 employees and more than 100 physicians, dentists and medical specialists.
In coordination with its affiliated health centers in Danielson, Dayville, Plainfield and Thompson, Day Kimball offers acute and general medical/surgical care, a 24-hour Emergency and Prompt Care Department, obstetrics, hematology and oncology, gynecology, pediatrics, cardiopulmonary and psychiatric programs.
