Day Kimball Hospital to Host Monthly
OPERATION: KIMBALL KIDS
PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital’s surgical services department has recently developed a new program, OPERATION: KIMBALL KIDS – a child's surgical tour. This educational program was initiated for children and their families who are anticipating surgery at Day Kimball Hospital, and takes participants from beginning to end of the surgical process. During the one-hour program, guests tour the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU), also known as “One-Day Surgery,” visit the reception area of the surgical services suite, and meet the staff who will be providing care to them.
“The thought of surgery can be very scary for a child,” said Elise Young, RN, of Day Kimball Hospital’s perioperative services department. “We designed OPERATION: KIMBALL KIDS to alleviate anxieties of both the child and their parents. This program also familiarizes children with our surgical areas, so when they come in for surgery, it all isn’t brand new for them. Our compassionate staff really goes the extra mile to ease children’s worries.”
OPERATION: KIMBALL KIDS meets the last Tuesday of every month from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Day Kimball Hospital’s Robert H. Field Conference Center. Please note, there is no October 2007 meeting due to Halloween. To register for the January 30th or a following tour, please call (860) 928-6541 extension 2382, weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
