News & EventsDay Kimball Hospital Announces Janet Johnson of Pastoral Care and Volunteer Services as the April Employee of the Month
PUTNAM, CT –Day Kimball Hospital announces that Janet Johnson, Coordinator of Pastoral Care and Volunteer Services was selected as Johnson started at Day Kimball Hospital in December of 1995 as the Immunization Coordinator. In November of 2003, she made a career change, and moved to the Pastoral Care and Volunteer Services Department. In her position, Johnson is responsible for screening, training, orientation, deployment and continuing education of all Day Kimball Hospital, Hospice and junior volunteers. She coordinates all the calendars for Pastoral Care, handles the generation of the department’s newsletters and their mailing, as well as all other department mailings. In addition, Johnson handles the minutes for the Spiritual Care Advisory Committee and the Appeals Committee, and scans Advance Directives into the database for Pastoral Care. “I am honored, flattered, and very grateful to have been chosen for this award and I am very proud to work at Day Kimball Hospital,” said Janet Johnson. “I consider myself very fortunate in many aspects of my life. I have a wonderful, supportive family, and I am very thankful to have the opportunity to work with such generous, kind, and extraordinary co-workers and volunteers.” According to her peers, Johnson is sweet, cheerful, and patient. She is always thoughtful and generous in her encounters with volunteers, local clergy and community members. She never has a cross or difficult word to say. She is organized, efficient and a whiz on the computer. Johnson’s supervisor, Virginia Army, Day Kimball Hospital Director of Pastoral Care and Volunteer Services said, “I don’t know what I’ll do without her if Janet ever leaves, I’ll be out the door right behind her. Janet Johnson is one of the world’s loveliest people…truly and genuinely kind, pleasant, compassionate, and just Day Kimball Hospital will host a celebratory reception in Johnson’s honor on Thursday, April 19. Johnson’s family, friends, and co-workers are invited to celebrate in the festivities. Johnson lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Glenn, and their two daughters, Skye, 19, and Cassandra, 14. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Day Kimball Hospital is served by more than 1,000 employees and more than 100 physicians, dentists and medical specialists. In coordination with its affiliated health centers in Danielson, Dayville, Plainfield and Thompson, Day Kimball offers acute and general medical/surgical care, a 24-hour Emergency and Prompt Care Department, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, oncology, hematology, cardiopulmonary and psychiatric programs. |
