News & EventsColette Cote, RN of ICU and Cardiopulmonary Rehab Named Day Kimball Hospital’s February Employee of the Month
PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital announces that Colette Cote, RN, of John O’Keefe, RN, MS, CNAA, Director of Critical Care Services and Cote’s supervisor said, “Colette cares for patients in a competent and caring fashion. She has a great sense of humor, and everybody loves with her! In addition to being admired for her clinical knowledge, Colette is well known for her love of teddy bears, rug hooking and wearing sweaters.” A Clinical Level III nurse, Cote has worked in Day Kimball Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit for the last 18 years. Nearly five years ago, she also joined the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation team where she monitors patients who are exercising, develops care plans, and helps patients progress in their program. Cote is a graduate of the Rhode Island Junior College. “I was shocked to learn that I was selected as the employee of the month,” shared Cote. “There are so many other skilled, experienced and well-deserving candidates here at Day Kimball. To say the least, I am very honored and humbled.” According to her peers, “Colette is very thorough and never leaves anything to chance, her nursing documentation is exceptional. She is well liked by her patients and co-workers. Colette is witty and funny with the ability to make everyone laugh. As a nurse, she is well organized and a strong patient advocate.” “We nominated Colette for this honor because she completes her work so efficiently and concisely,” said Carol Artiaco, RN, supervisor of the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program. “Colette delivers excellent patient care, and is highly organized; her chart work is always perfect! Colette never says ‘no.’ She always makes people smile, and is a true mentor to all of her colleagues.” A native of Rhode Island, Cote moved to Brooklyn in 1989 to be closer to family. On Thursday, February 22, Day Kimball Hospital will host a celebration reception in honor of Cote’s achievement. Her department, fellow colleagues, and family will be invited to attend. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Day Kimball Hospital is served by more than 1,000 employees and more than 100 physicians, dentists and medical specialists.
