Day Kimball Hospital Announces the Unveiling of the Centralized Registration Area


The new Centralized Registration Area at Day Kimball Hospital features a greeter station and three private offices. It was designed to enhance patient privacy, registration processes, and education of financial resources.

PUTNAM, CT – On Wednesday, January 2, Day Kimball Hospital hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Centralized Registration Area. Patients are able to access this newly renovated area at the rear hospital entrance (near the Pediatric Offices and Laboratory) when coming to Day Kimball for the following services: outpatient lab testing, endoscopy (gastrointestinal) procedures, outpatient surgery, same-day surgical admissions as well as outpatient IV therapy. Diagnostic Imaging patients also have the option to register through this new location or they may continue to register through the Emergency Department for their convenience.

“Day Kimball Hospital is excited to offer enhancements in the registration process,” said Crista Durand, MBA, senior vice president and chief financial officer. “We hope these efforts will provide patients with more comfort and privacy as well as improve their overall experience at Day Kimball.”

Plans for the centralized registration area came to fruition after three years of dedicated planning. Construction for the area began in November of 2007 and was completed at the end of December. The new space is occupied by a greeter who then directs patients to one of the three registration offices. This new space was designed to enhance patient privacy, facilitate patient throughput, and provide comprehensive assistance to patients with regard to insurance coverage issues as well as identification of any expected out of pocket expenses. With improved software technology, Day Kimball Hospital representatives can be proactive in the insurance verification process to ensure that any ordered tests or procedures meet approval guidelines as mandated by Medicare or commercial insurance carriers.

“We are optimistic that our new Centralized Registration Area will complement patient services at Day Kimball Hospital,” said Sarah Ginnetti, MBA, MHA, director of Patient Financial Services. “It will guide our patients through the registration process, as well as assist them in navigating the financial side of healthcare. Our primary goal is to facilitate the delivery of healthcare so that patients are seen in a timely manner and have all of their questions answered with regard to any potential financial obligations that may come forth as a result of receiving services.”
