With all the changes taking place in healthcare today the one constant we can count on is the dedication and service of our doctors. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the employees of Day Kimball Hospital I express a heartfelt appreciation to the men and women who serve Northeast CT as our doctors.” Day Kimball Hospital is proud to have more than 150 physicians on its medical staff. Each day, these healthcare providers work hard to ensure the good health of the communities of Northeastern Connecticut. Growing demands and sacrifices can make the doctor’s job challenging. Doctor’s Day is just one of the ways we can pay tribute to those who make a difference in our lives. In the U.S., physicians have made momentous improvements in our quality of life. Along with the AMA, Day Kimball Hospital reflects on some of these outstanding accomplishments. For instance, since 1960, physicians have increased our life expectancy by nearly seven years. Doctors’ Day was first observed in 1933 in Barrow County, Georgia as a commemoration to Crawford W. Long, M.D. Dr. Long was the first physician in our nation’s history to administer ether anesthetic on March 30, 1842. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam.
