News & EventsDay Kimball Hospital Announces 2007 Employee of the Year!
PUTNAM, CT – On Thursday, January 10, Day Kimball Hospital announced at its Annual Corporators’ Meeting that Colette Cote, RN of the Intensive Care Unit and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation is the organization’s 2007 employee of the year. From a dedicated group of twelve employees of the month, Day Kimball Hospital’s Employee Council selected Cote for this annual award. “When I first heard about being chosen as the employee of the year, I was extremely overwhelmed and overjoyed,” said Cote. “This is such an honor and I was completely shocked. I really enjoy what I do here at Day Kimball and feel as though I have the best of both worlds being a nurse in two different departments.” A Clinical Level III nurse, Cote has worked in Day Kimball Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit for the last 18 years. In the ICU she is able to care for patients’ needs at their bedside after surgery, or while they are on the ventilator or on intravenous medication. Nearly five years ago, she also joined the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation team where she monitors patients who are exercising, develops care plans, and helps patients progress in their program. Cote is a graduate of the Rhode Island Junior College. In speaking about Cote, the Director of Critical Services, John O’Keefe, said, “Colette cares for patients in a competent and caring fashion. She has a great sense of humor and everybody loves working with her.” Cote was also honored as the February employee of the month. A native of Rhode Island, Colette moved to Brooklyn in 1989 to be closer to her family. She still resides in Brooklyn with her husband and their two dogs. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
