PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital announces that Celeste Ann Dietlin was the first baby born in 2008 at the healthcare facility. Delivered by Dr. David Yeager, Celeste came into the world on Tuesday, January 1 at 5:46 a.m. to parents Jamey Smith and Bryan Dietlin of Dayville. The infant weighed 6 lbs. 14.6 oz. and measured 20 ¼ long. “We are proud to welcome Celeste as Day Kimball Hospital’s first baby born in 2008,” said Virginia Army, director of Corporate Communications. “On behalf of Day Kimball Hospital, we would like to extend warm wishes and congratulations to Ms. Smith and Mr. Dietlin on the birth of their new daughter.” Being the first born baby in 2008, Celeste’s parents were presented with two gift baskets; one given by Day Kimball Hospital and one donated by Babies “R” Us. The basket organized by Day Kimball included items donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals. Contributions included baby clothes, accessories, a gift certificate and a U.S. Savings Bond from the following: Day Kimball Hospital Maternal Child Health Unit; Wonderland Books; Day Kimball Hospital Woman’s Board Gift Shop; Wal-Mart; Express Photo; Day Kimball HomeMakers; Putnam Bank; Hank’s Restaurant; and Windy Acres Florist. “We’re so happy to welcome Celeste into the world, she’s just the most precious baby,” said proud mom, Jamey. Both new mom and dad are thrilled to have had the first baby of the year at Day Kimball. The basket donated by Babies“R”Us had $50 value and is the third consecutive basket that Babies"R"Us has presented to the first baby born in the New Year at Day Kimball Hospital. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, Day Kimball is served by more than 1,000 employees and more than 100 physicians, dentists and medical specialists.
