Linda Rochefort, RN, of the Maternal Child Health Unit Has Been Named Day Kimball Hospital’s January Employee of the Month

Linda Rochefort, RN, of the Maternal Child Health Unit is Day Kimball Hospital’s January Employee of the Month.

PUTNAM, CTDay Kimball Hospital announces that Linda Rochefort, RN, of the Maternal Child Health Unit is the Hospital’s January employee of the month. The Employee Council, a group of 20 Hospital representatives, selected Rochefort as the employee of the month after reviewing various nominations from hospital management.

“When I first learned about this award I felt honored,” said Rochefort. “The Maternal Child Health Unit is a wonderful place to work.  A unit is only as good as its staff, and we are so fortunate to have wonderful professionals in MCH. We are blessed, all of the staff, nurses and physicians are colleagues and friends. It’s a wonderful and supportive place to work!”

Rochefort started her career at Day Kimball Hospital in 1980 as a staff nurse in the nursery. She stayed for two years, and then moved with her family to Pennsylvania. When the Rocheforts returned to Northeastern Connecticut in 1986, Linda came back to Day Kimball as a per diem nurse, and then accepted a staff position in the Pediatric Unit. In 1989, she made her home in MCH and has been there ever since.

Rochefort’s colleagues share that she can be counted on to see the good in even the worst situation and can turn any negative into a positive. Rochefort’s sense of humor is remarkable, and her patients single her out for her compassion and gentleness.  Her colleagues continue that she is extremely flexible in helping to meet the staffing needs of the unit, unselfishly putting the needs of the unit before her own. She is a prime example of an outstanding employee.

“Linda is the employee everyone wants to work with. When she is on duty you know the day will have a positive tone and lots of laughter and you can count on a team spirit,” said Mary Ellen Snyder, RN, clinical coordinator of MCH. “She is kind, compassionate and very empathetic to patients, but also to her fellow workers. We are so lucky to have her on our staff!”
