News & EventsLisa Vangel, RN, of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Has Been Named Day Kimball Hospital’s March Employee of the Month
PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital announces that Lisa Vangel, RN, is the Hospital’s March employee of the month. The Employee Council, a group of 20 Hospital representatives, selected Vangel as the employee of the month after reviewing various nominations from hospital management. “Working at Day Kimball has given me the opportunity to grow and learn diverse nursing skills,” shared Vangel. “Everyone in the PACU is professional, caring and knowledgeable. We’re like a family.” Vangel began her career at Day Kimball Hospital in 1987. She has worked in several departments including, the Medical/Surgical Unit and ICU. She also cross-trained in Maternal Child Health/Birthing Center, and now resides in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Vangel is currently cross-training to work in the Operating Room. “Lisa is a quiet professional with a great attitude. If I could name some of her outstanding qualities they would be her gentle way of comforting patients, her nice smile and respectful, professional attitude,” said Robin Lazenby, RN, BSN, MS, CNOR, Day Kimball Hospital’s Perioperative Services Nurse Director. “Lisa’s skills are top notch, she is a devoted care giver, and a team player for her unit and DKH. Thank you Lisa.” Vangel earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Fitchburg State College in 1985. Originally from Hudson, MA, Vangel and her family have lived in Northeastern Connecticut for 21 years. She is married with three children. Her husband’s name is George, and their children are Jessica, 19, an elementary education major at Keene State College; Ashley, 17, a senior at Woodstock Academy who has been accepted to Framingham State College to study nutrition and dietetics; and John, 12, a 6th grader at Brooklyn Middle School. Day Kimball Hospital will host a celebratory reception in honor of Vangel on Monday, March 24. Her family, friends and co-workers are invited to attend. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
