PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital President and CEO, Robert E. Smanik, FACHE, has announced that Nancy E.F. Morrow, M.DIV, has accepted the position of Vice President of Philanthropy for the Hospital. Ms. Morrow assumed her new position on January 1, 2008. “Nancy’s knowledge of Day Kimball and Northeastern Connecticut is an enormous asset for us,” said Mr. Smanik. “She brings not only her local work experience, but her previous work in the field of Philanthropy and volunteerism. Her Philanthropy background and work as a church leader uniquely qualify her to join Day Kimball Hospital at this exciting time. I look forward to working with Nancy as we continue the tradition of Philanthropic endeavor which has been so essential to the success of Day Kimball Hospital.” Ms. Morrow has been involved with Day Kimball Hospital since 1995 when she became a volunteer Chaplin and a member of the Spiritual Care Advisory Committee. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Morrow became a member of the Board of Directors where she helped lead the Hospital through years of advancements. Peter Deary, Chairman of Day Kimball’s Board of Directors says, “I am thrilled to have Nancy working with us in this crucial role. She is a fine professional, she knows the area and its people well, she is a hard worker, and she is one of us. I look forward to a fresh start and working with her as we continue to move the mission of the Hospital forward.” Since 1995, Ms. Morrow has been a pastor at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Danielson, which she believes will benefit her in this new position. She says, “As a pastor, I always tried to connect people with a sense of their own gifts and how they can use their gifts for something larger than themselves.” Previously, Ms. Morrow held the position of Director of Leadership Giving and Planned Gifts at Andover Newton Theological School and completed a year of volunteerism in Chicago, IL for The Esther Davis Center, an organization that matched volunteers with non-profit organizations that were in need of helping hands. In speaking about her new position, Ms. Morrow states, “I am grateful for this opportunity. I can’t wait to work with the community and everyone involved with the Hospital. I believe the possibilities are endless and I look forward to creative approaches and fresh ideas. I also look forward to creating a relationship with the community and to meeting as many community members as possible.” Growing up in Warwick, RI, Ms. Morrow attended Wheaton College in Norton, MA and graduated Magna Cum Laude, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in English. She went on to attend Andover Newton Theological School and received a Master of Divinity, Cum Laude. In developing her plans and vision for the Philanthropy Department, Ms. Morrow says, “I will focus on developing a comprehensive plan for positioning the Hospital in the heart and mind of the community as a primary organization worthy of the community’s time and resources.” A search committee of seven individuals involved with the Hospital chose Ms. Morrow as their new Vice President of Philanthropy based on her experience, skill-sets and character.
