PUTNAM, CT – The Day Kimball Hospital Pediatric Center welcomes Richard Smith, MD, to its team of practitioners. Dr. Smith comes to Day Kimball Hospital with more than 30 years of experience in pediatrics. He is certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Smith earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his Medical Degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Dr. Smith has spent the last several years practicing pediatrics at healthcare facilities in Rhode Island. His has a strong professional background which includes, teaching experience, membership to medical organizations, community service, conference and workshop participation, grand rounds presentations, and publication authorship. “The Day Kimball Hospital Pediatric Center is fortunate to have Dr. Smith join the practice with over 30 years of caring for children,” said Christine Vallee, director of Physician Practices. “Dr. Smith was very active in Rhode Island serving as President of the RI Chapter for the American Academy of Pediatrics, and currently serves on the Chapter Forum Management Committee for the national American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Smith brings his expertise and many years of experience to both the Putnam and Plainfield Pediatric Centers.” In addition to Dr. Smith, the Day Kimball Hospital Pediatric Center staffs Marc Cerrone, MD; Richard Herklots, MD; Anne Josephs, MD; Krista Matsen, MD; Christopher McDermott, MD and Pediatric Department Chairman; and Bronson Terry, MD.The Center also staffs three advanced practice registered nurses, Anne Marie Grossi, Annette Konicki and Debra McGovern. The Pediatric Center provides sick visit care, immunizations, check-ups, school and camp physicals, evaluation and treatment for attention deficit disorders and evaluation of behavioral health problems.
