News & EventsDay Kimball Hospital 23rd Annual Golf Classic Hits the Green!
PUTNAM, CT – Hosted at the Tunxis Plantation Country Club in Farmington, CT on Monday, July 16th, the 23rd Annual Day Kimball Hospital Golf Classic turned out to be a success with 267 registered teams and 30 volunteers. The tournament raised more than $90,000 in support of the Hospital’s 2007 Annual Giving Appeal, which supports areas of the hospital including the Birthing Center, cardiology, oncology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. In 23 years, the tournament’s total contribution to Day Kimball Hospital programs and services is $1,168,000. Victoria Bates, interim director for Philanthropy said, “On behalf of this year’s Golf Classic Committee, I would like to extend a special thank you to all our sponsors, golfers and volunteers for their continued support to Day Kimball Hospital. We greatly appreciate the generosity of time and dedication given by our volunteers and participants who truly make the difference. They are the reason for the success of our tournament!” The results of this year’s Golf Classic were impressive. Results on the white course were: 1st gross – (57) Jeff Rawson, Neil Bernier, Mike Levesque and John Elkund; 2nd gross- (58) Roger Noll, Jeff Oberle, Jake Matot and Pat Kozelka; 3rd gross – (60) Bob Jacques, Dan Rovero, Brian Bardier and Rich Messer; 4th gross – (61) David Panteleakos, Jeff Pycko, Mike Panteleakos and Kevin Cole; 5th gross – (62) Mike Gaudreau, Alan Parsons, Jim Williams and Marc Allard. Results on the green course were: 1st gross – (58) Bill Karanian, Bob Petry, David Neal and Steve Doherty; 2nd gross – (61) Kevin Plouffe, Jeff Mouris, Chuck Cartelli and Stam Rizanis; 3rd gross – (61) Mike MacDonald, Tom Sheard, Tom Army and Christopher Payette; 4th gross – (66) Marc Bates, Bob Bates, Alan Bates and Mike Bates; 5th gross – (67) Aaron Kulsic, Deb Kulsic, Sandy Bucci and Bill Bucci. Results on the white course for 1st net were Paul Monahan, Mike Knowles, Tom Chenail and Greg Harubin; 2nd net – Fran Baranski, Ron Battista, Carl Welshman and Jim Mortimer; 3rd net – Carlton Lindgren, Robin Bouvier, Steve Ribeiro and Cliff Long; 4th net – Joe Beaudry, Scott Mongeau, Richard Blackmar and Ken Davis; 5th net – Michael Douglas, Bill Flanagan, Dan Busha and Ray Mercado. Results on the green course for 1st net were Peter Olshewski, Scott Jurnovoy, Mark Crisuolo and Eric Hedman; 2nd net – David Conrad, Terry Niles, Graham Niles and Chick Pritchard; 3rd net – Doug Valentine, Peter Deary, Peter LeClair and Mike Denis; 4th net – Lance Becker, Isabel Silvestri, Crista Durand and Scott Kantrowitz; 5th net – Archie Drobiak, Ward Walker, Charlie McGill and Mike Mooney. Results for skins were: Green Skins – Eagle 2 #9 - David Conrad, Terry Niles, Graham Niles and Chick Pritchard; Green Skins – Birdie 2 #5 – Peter Olshewski, Scott Jurnovoy, Mark Criscuolo and Eric Hedman. Results for Closest to the Pin on the white course were: 4th hole, Brian Ravenelle, 4’3”; 8th hole, Alan Parsons, 4’1”; 14th hole, Bethany Pomfret, 4’11”; and 16th hole, Dick Davignon, 8’9”. Results on the green course for Closest to the Pin were: 5th hole, Hartley Field, 17’8”; 8th hole, Marc Bates, 6’2”; 12th hole, Brad Hastings, 6’0”; and 18th hole, Rick Gregory, 6’6.5”. Each year the Golf Classic presents awards to those who generously donate their time and efforts to the tournament.This year’s winner of the “Closest to the Heart Award” went to Alan Parsons of the Trinket Shoppe in Danielson. Mr. Parsons has served as a Golf Classic Committee member for several years, and remains committed to the tournament’s mission to support Day Kimball Hospital’s programs and services. The “Volunteer Service Award” went to Richard Moore of Putnam Savings Bank. Along with committee member, Sean Brennan, Mr. Moore assumed a co-leadership role of the volunteers, and is also involved in many other Day Kimball Hospital charitable events. In addition to Parsons and Moore, the 2007 organizing committee included, Beth Altenbrand, Marc Bates, Tori Bates, Jay Byrnes, Tom Chenail, Mike Gaudreau, Greg Harubin, Robert Jacques, Marie Morich and Bill Poirier.
