Day Kimball Hospital to Host More HypnoBirthing® Classes

PUTNAM, CT Day Kimball Hospital’s Wellness Program introduces the option of HypnoBirthing® classes to expectant families in Northeastern Connecticut.  A four-part session will be offered on; October 15, October 22, October 29 and November 5 at Day Kimball Hospital’s RHF Conference Room 3 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.  The course will be facilitated by Kathryn McGlynn, Board Certified HypnoBirthing® Instructor.

Elaine Turner, RN, BCH, Day Kimball Hospital’s Community Education Specialist, said, “I first became interested in HypnoBirthing® while I was an administrative supervisor.  When I would speak with the maternity nurses they would comment, ‘The Hypno-Moms have the best labors and deliveries.’  Earlier this year, we offered an Introduction to HypnoBirthing® and felt that there was enough interest to run a full class. Hopefully this will be the first of many HypnoBirthing® series. Even though it costs more than childbirth classes, HypnoBirthing® equips couples to have a natural, calm, comfortable, joyous birth without medication, if they so choose.  As a certified hypnotist myself, I’ve discovered the wide range of application for medical hypnosis and I have seen it work.”

Couples participating in the program are asked to wear comfortable clothing and to bring a blanket and pillow to class.  Couples will also be given a HypnoBirthing® manual and two hypnosis CD’s.  The fee for this program is $200, and women may participate at any time during their pregnancy.

Instructor McGlynn is a member of the American Holistic Health Association, Massachusetts Friends of Midwives, and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists.  Her involvement in the field of holistic and complementary health care spans nearly 30 years.
