News & EventsThe Day Kimball Hospital Well-Wishers Hosted Their 2nd Annual Guest Bartender Night
PUTNAM, CT – The Day Kimball Hospital Well-Wishers hosted their second annual Guest Bartender Night on Monday, August 6 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Courthouse Bar & Grille in Putnam. Local celebrities poured drinks and collected more than $2,400 in tips to benefit the patients and families of the Day Kimball Hospital Rose Bove LaRose Oncology-Hematology Clinic. “Mondays are usually quiet in Putnam but not this week. Oh what a night!” exclaimed Barbara Chubbuck, Day Kimball Hospital Well-Wisher and administrative assistant for the Laboratory and Intensive Care Unit. “We had everyone from doctors, bankers, corrections officers, selectmen, karate masters, entrepreneurs, and “No Nunsense” nuns serving up drinks and passing the basket to help the Well-Wishers raise more than $2,400 for Oncology at DKH!” The line-up of guest bartenders included: Mayor Robert Viens, Dr. Ron Franzino and Dr. Steven Raheb from the 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. hour; “Nuns” Linda Collangelo, Donna Lahaie and Tanya Brock from the 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. hour; Gary “O” Osbrey, Karen Osbrey and Chad Neal from the 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. hour; Delpha Very, Mike Bogdanski and David Conrad from the 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. hour; and Steve Faucher, Rick McGhee and Ronald Coderre from the 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. hour. “We had another terrific fundraiser! The bartenders had a fun time, and we competed to see who could raise the most money. It's hard to compete with Linda Colangelo, especially when she is dressed as a nun. I even gave her some money,” said guest bartender, Dr. Ron Franzino. “We met lots of wonderful people who helped with donations to our cause. I am proud to be a member of the Well-Wisher group, and look forward to these events every year!” In addition to the Guest Bartender Night, the Well-Wishers will also host their 6th Annual Block Party at Putnam’s Rotary Park from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 11 with all proceeds benefiting Day Kimball’s Oncology-Hematology Department. The Day Kimball Hospital Well-Wishers is a fundraising group, consisting of dozens of members. The members are not only employees of Day Kimball Hospital, but are from the community as well. Because the Well-Wishers fundraising efforts have evolved to include the hospital’s Rose Bove LaRose Oncology-Hematology Clinic as the main recipient of their good work, many more advancements have been made for patients. Their philosophy is to organize fun events, in which the entire community can participate, all while helping a good cause. Popular fundraising events have included variety show follies, the Block Party following the Deary Memorial Race & Walk in August, book sales and basket raffles. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Day Kimball Hospital is served by more than 1,000 employees and more than 100 physicians, dentists and medical specialists.
