News & EventsDay Kimball Hospital Woman’s Board Recently Pledged $35K to the Hospital’s Programs & Services
PUTNAM, CT – On Friday, June 15, the Woman’s Board of Day Kimball Hospital held its quarterly meeting at The Inn at Woodstock Hill, and the Board of Directors voted to commit a pledge of $70,975 to the hospital. This pledge amount continues the Woman’s Board mission of promoting and advancing the welfare of Day Kimball Hospital through ways approved by the Governing Board of the Hospital. Woman’s Board President Cynthia Dunne said, “It was an honor on the behalf of the Woman’s Board of Day Kimball Hospital to present the funds, which is a tribute to all the contributions from the Board of Directors and the staff at The Shop at Day Kimball Hospital.” This pledge amount will be committed to the following programs: an ICU Nurse Call System; Birthing Center Sleep Cots; Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Monitor; Pediatric Apnea and Vital Sign Monitors for the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit; an EKG Machine; Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) Monitors; and a Wellness Cart. On Monday, July 2, The Woman’s Board presented $35,000 of the $70,975 to Day Kimball Hospital President and CEO, Robert E. Smanik, FACHE and Senior Vice President of Patient Services, Sandra Bucci, MS, RN. The checks were presented by Woman’s Board President, Cynthia Dunne, and The Shop at Day Kimball volunteer management staff, Paula Schimmel, Susan Byrnes and Francine Lee. “On behalf of Day Kimball Hospital Board of Directors and employees, I wish to thank the Woman’s Board for their continued support of our programs and services,” said Robert Smanik. “This generous gift demonstrates the Woman’s Board commitment to the mission of the hospital -furthering the quality of healthcare in the communities of Northeastern Connecticut. Together, we take pride in having the opportunity to provide new technologies and services to our patients.” Of the $35,000, $17,500 was contributed from the Woman’s Board General Fund and monies raised by various programs sponsored by the Woman’s Board including: the Annual Springtime Festival, Stew and Story, Winners’ Choice Raffle and Hospital Vendor Sales. Many other programs that the Board of Directors sponsors contribute to the General Fund. The remaining $17,500 was contributed from The Shop at Day Kimball Hospital sales. The Shop at Day Kimball Hospital is located in the lobby of the hospital. The Shop staff and its management consists entirely of volunteers. This volunteer time makes it possible to contribute all of our profits for the benefit of Day Kimball Hospital. The Board of Directors membership is open to all women in the Day Kimball Hospital Service area.
