Day Kimball Hospital Perioperative Services Nurse Director Speaks at World Conference on Surgical Patient Care in Seoul, South Korea

PUTNAM, CTRobin Lazenby, RN, BSN,
MS, CNOR, Day Kimball Hospital’s Perioperative Services Nurse Director, recently returned
from Seoul, South Korea where she spoke at
the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) World Conference on Surgical Patient Care.

“Seoul is an amazing city that’s very electronically advanced with cutting edge technology,” said Lazenby. “The people are all friendly and humble professionals who share
our common goal of putting the patient first. I
am very grateful for this opportunity and thank my colleagues at Day Kimball Hospital for
their support.”

As President of the Competency & Credentialing Institute, Lazenby gave over 140 nurses the specialty in perioperative nursing exam, which grants the CNOR credential. Aside from giving the exam, Lazenby also spoke to a crowd of over 1,000 people about the scope of practice
for perioperative nurses, as well as competency
and credentialing.

“Day Kimball is proud of Robin’s contributions to this global conference,” Day Kimball Hospital President & CEO Robert E. Smanik said. “The fact that she was invited to participate is a testament to her exceptional skill and her dedication to serving others. Her trip also spotlights the high caliber nursing staff we are fortunate to have right here at our hospital.”

While at the conference, Lazenby was able to attend several education sessions and networking groups to further her knowledge on current nursing healthcare issues. Some of the sessions she attended were; patient safety, handoff communications, infection control practices and evidence based on research and team efforts in the workplace.

Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam.  Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Day Kimball is served by more than 1,000 employees and more than 100 physicians, dentists and medical specialists.
