News & EventsEvelyn LaBonte, Accounts Receivable Technician, Named Day Kimball Hospital’s October Employee of the Month
PUTNAM, CT – Day Kimball Hospital announces that Evelyn LaBonte, of the Patient Accounts department is the hospital’s October employee of the month. The Employee Council, a group of 20 hospital representatives, selected LaBonte as the employee of the month after reviewing various nominations from the hospital staff. “Being named employee of the month is definitely something that I am very proud of,” said Evelyn LaBonte. “In all the years that I have worked at Day Kimball, interacting with people face to face and really getting to know them is still my favorite part about what I do. The department I work in is like a second family and I couldn’t be happier about the way that we work together and make good things happen.” LaBonte joined Day Kimball Hospital in the summer of 1969 as an Accounts Receivable Technician. Aside from working as a cashier in the Pediatric Center for a short time, LaBonte continues to hold this position in Patient Accounts. As a technician, LaBonte’s responsibilities include: assisting patients in the settlement of their accounts, explaining charges and answering related inquiries, receiving and processing accounts receivable checks and other related mail, as well as processing daily census statistics to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data. Labonte also researches credit balances and processes refunds to both patients and third party payers including Medicare state agencies. “Evelyn is committed to her position, her department and her hospital as a whole,” said Magda Rodriguez, Patient Accounts Billing Manager. “As her manager, I’m honored to have Evelyn recognized for her excellence. There are not enough words to say how much Evelyn is appreciated and I’d like to thank her for her ongoing dedication and hard work.” Evelyn is said to be an extremely dedicated employee who has a very strong work ethic and gives 110% each and every day. On Tuesday, October 30th, Day Kimball Hospital will host a celebration reception in honor of LaBonte’s achievement. Her department, fellow colleagues, and family will be invited to attend. Day Kimball Hospital is a non-profit, 103-bed community hospital in Putnam. Day Kimball has been in operation since 1894, and provides for the health care needs of Northeastern Connecticut, and nearby Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
