Bone Densitometry
(DEXA Scanning)
Day Kimball Hospital’s Diagnostic Services Department offers bone densitometry testing and Intervertebral Fracture Assessment used in the detection of osteoporosis. This quick and painless test uses low doses of x-rays to detect changes in bone density. The results can then be used by a physician to diagnose osteoporosis and to make treatment recommendations. Studies are performed using a state-of-the-art, computerized C-arm fan beam bone densitometor, purchased with funds donated by the Day Kimball Hospital Woman’s Board.
Services Provided
Dual energy bone density imaging used in the detection of osteoporosis and High Definition Instant Vertebral Assessment which allows detection of spine fractures with a rapid, low dose, single energy image in seconds.
