(X-Rays) and Fluoroscopy
Day Kimball Hospital provides high quality diagnostic computed radiology
and digital fluoroscopy services using modern, safe equipment that produce
very low doses of radiation
to give physicians a clear image of various body structures.
Diagnostic X-rays are offered at three convenient locations: Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, Danielson Health Center in Danielson, and Plainfield Health Center in Plainfield.
Fluoroscopy services, used for motion and function studies, are offered
only at Day Kimball Hospital. Diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopy services
are accredited by the American College of Radiology. All staff are licensed
and certified, and the hospital’s services meet all state and federal
quality standards.
Day Kimball’s outpatient diagnostic services provided prompt, courteous service with rapid test result turnaround to ordering physicians. The hospital’s outpatient services have been rated highest in patient satisfaction in Connecticut according to an independent, national survey.

What to expect during your visit/procedure
The average x-ray exam time is 20-35 minutes. Barium studies will vary from 30- minutes to over one hour depending on the type of study. Some examinations require that the patient be changed into a “Johnny” with pajama bottoms.
Some kidney examinations (IVPs) will require an injection and certain patients will require laboratory testing be performed in advance. Please provide a list of your current medications when you arrive for this (IVP) exam. The ordering physician will notify the patient of this when ordering the exam.
Patients for the more involved procedures will be called in advance to verify their appointment, location, and time.
Printed results will be available through the patient’s ordering physician three to four days after the procedure has been performed.
Please ask ordering physician for specific study information and preparations relative to the procedures that they are requesting.
Patients will receive two bills, one from Day Kimball Hospital for performing the procedure and one from Team Physicians of CT. for interpreting the procedure.
Important reminders/things to remember
Bring all current insurance cards.
Legal guardians need to be in attendance of any patients under the age of 18 for studies requiring injections and for patients who cannot sign or comprehend consent or screening forms.
If a patient needs an interpreter or is hearing impaired, please let us know in advance and the department will make appropriate arrangements prior to the study.
Read all preparations carefully. They are important to the completion and diagnostic quality of the study. Failure to do so could result in a poor quality study or a rescheduling of the test.
Bring all requisitions or paperwork that the ordering physician has given to you to the test.
Plan to arrive at the facility or registration area 15 minutes prior to your scheduled test.
Most results will be reported to the ordering physician within three (3) to four (4) working days. STAT exams are called or faxed.
All examinations will only be performed with the written request of a physician.
