Plainfield Diagnostic Center

Day Kimball Hospital’s Diagnostic Services Department offers outpatient x-ray, mammograms, EKGs, laboratory blood drawing, and specimen drop off at the Plainfield Health Center in Plainfield.

This convenient outpatient center enables community members to receive high quality diagnostic testing close to where they live or work. Diagnostic services are provided in a prompt manner with rapid test results turnaround to ordering physicians. Day Kimball Hospital’s outpatient services and mammography have both been rated highest in Connecticut in patient satisfaction.

Services Provided

  • Non-urgent general x-ray of the skeleton, abdomen, pelvis, and chest (no fluoroscopic procedures performed at the facility)
  • Screening mammography
  • 12 Lead Routine EKG’s
  • Blood drawing for laboratory testing
  • Laboratory specimen drop-off

What to expect during your visit/procedure

Blood drawing for laboratory patients usually take 10-20 minutes.

General x-rays are usually completed within 20-30 minutes. Some procedures might require the patient to change into a “Johnny.”

Mammography patients will be called in advance to verify their appointment times.

Patients will receive two bills, one from Day Kimball Hospital for performing the procedure and one from Team Physicians of CT for interpreting the results.

Important reminders/things to remember

Laboratory patients are reminded to follow their physician’s instructions if their test requires fasting

Mammography patients are requested to avoid caffeine 24-hour prior to the procedure and not to use deodorant since this can sometimes appear on the images

Bring all current insurance cards.

Read all preparations carefully. They are important to the completion and diagnostic quality of the study. Failure to do so could result in a poor quality study or a rescheduling of the test.

Bring all requisitions or paperwork that the ordering physician has given to the procedure location.

Most results will be reported to the ordering physician within three to four working days.

All examinations will only be performed with the written request of a physician.
