Day Kimball Healthcare Becomes Accredited in Echocardiography Diagnostics

September 20, 2010

PUTNAM, CT– Day Kimball Healthcare’s Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Camera System has recently been awarded a three-year term of accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment.

JoAnn Slota, diagnostic imaging manager, said, “This is an important accomplishment for our department and organization. Our team worked very hard to achieve this goal and we’re proud of all their efforts.”

This Siemens system is the first of its kind, featuring the latest in state-of-the-art SPECT technology, making it the most innovative nuclear cardiology system. The machine’s open and reclining chair design allows the patient to be comfortable, which allows for improved image quality because the patient is less likely to move during the scan. The Siemens is ideal for the early detection and staging of heart disease and came to Day Kimball Hospital in November of 2009.
