Day Kimball Healthcare Raises $7,800 for Healthy Hearts
John and Carol Doughty from Woodstock enjoyed dinner and dancing at the 3rd Annual Heart of Rock & Roll fundraiser for Day Kimball Healthcare’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation programs.
PUTNAM, CT – The third annual Heart of Rock & Roll event took place on September 25, 2010, drawing a crowd of almost 200 to Allen Hill Tree Farm in Brooklyn and raising $7,800. These funds will be used to purchase a new multi-station weight training machine for Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation patients at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.
“We are extremely grateful to the Great Garage Band Reunion, Chef Frank Cameron and crew, and Allen Hill Tree Farm for making this event possible,” said Carol Artiaco, RN, clinical coordinator of Day Kimball’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department. “The fundraiser is a great benefit to our patients and to improving their health.”
The Great Garage Band Reunion played the night away while guests enjoyed dinner, dancing, prizes and a celebrity-judged dessert contest.
“Aerobic exercise and weight training are key components for cardiovascular fitness and overall health,” said Artiaco. “Patients of all ages participate in weight training as part of their program in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and they appreciate new equipment very much.”
The event was sponsored by Putnam Bank, Gerardi Insurance, Northeast Connecticut Cardiology Services and Hawes Construction. Additional supporters include Gary Osbrey/WINY, Ed Artiaco, East Brooklyn Fire Department, Central Coffee Company, raffle donors, the Heart of Rock & Roll committee and the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation staff.
