Day Kimball Hospital Announces 2008 Employee of the Year

January 19, 2009

Linda Rochefort, RN, of Maternal Child Health is Day Kimball Hospital’s 2008 Employee of the Year.

– Recently, Day Kimball Hospital announced that Linda Rochefort, RN, of the Maternal Child Health Unit is the organization’s 2008 employee of the year. From a dedicated group of twelve employees of the month, Day Kimball Hospital’s Employee Council selected Rochefort for this annual award.

"I am honored to be chosen as the employee of the year," said Rochefort. "As far as I’m concerned, all of my co-workers are employees of the year as well. I really enjoy what I do here at Day Kimball and am pleased to be a part of this family."

As a graduate of Russell Sage College in Albany, NY, Rochefort began her career at Day Kimball Hospital in 1980 as a staff nurse in the nursery. She stayed for two years, and then moved with her family to Pennsylvania. When the Rocheforts returned to Northeastern Connecticut in 1986, Linda came back to Day Kimball as a per diem nurse, and then accepted a staff position in the Pediatric Unit. In 1989, she made her home in MCH and has been there ever since. Each day Rochefort cares for mothers and babies in labor and delivery, post partum and nursery.

"Linda is definitely deserving of this honor and a person with such compassion and kindness exemplifies what an employee of the year should be," said Mary Ellen Snyder, RN, clinical coordinator of MCH. "Linda is always in a good mood and I know that every day Linda works will be a good one. Congratulations Linda!"

Rochefort’s colleagues share that she can be counted on to see the good in even the worst situation and can turn any negative into a positive. Rochefort’s sense of humor is remarkable, and her patients single her out for her compassion and gentleness. Her colleagues appreciate that she is extremely flexible in helping to meet the staffing needs of the unit, unselfishly putting the needs of the unit before her own. She is a prime example of an outstanding employee.

Currently, Rochefort lives in Danielson and has three children.
