PUTNAM, CT
– Day Kimball Hospital announces that Joan Klebart, Surgical Technician, is the Hospital’s July employee of the month. The Employee Council, a group of 20 Hospital representatives, selected Klebart as the employee of the month after reviewing various nominations from hospital management.

Klebart began working in the operating rooms at Day Kimball Hospital in 2005 where she assists with the nursing care, arranges the surgical instruments while maintaining aseptic technique, anticipates surgeons’ needs and ensures the safety of patients at all times. “I am so proud to work at Day Kimball,” said Klebart. “I work with a wonderful group of people; they are like family. And the best part of my job is the ability to help others heal.”

Robin Lazenby, perioperative services nurse director, said, “Joan is an excellent surgical technician. She is conscientious and has a strong work ethic. As a dedicated professional you can always count on Joan to go the extra mile. She brings a warm smile and a positive attitude to the operating room and I am proud to have her as part of our great team.”

In October, Klebart will travel to Haiti on a medical mission with Day Kimball pediatrician, Dr. Marc Cerrone and surgical technician, Lorri Brodeur, along with others from High Point Church.

Klebart received a certificate upon completing her surgical technician program at the David Hale Fanning Trade School in Worcester, MA where she was also affiliated with Worcester City Hospital. Throughout her career, Klebart has worked at a number of hospitals in this region as a surgical technician.

Klebart currently resides in Webster, MA and has two daughters and two grandchildren. Nicknamed “Jelly Bean,” Klebart hopes to one day open a cookie making business. Her hobbies include baking, sewing, gardening, art and reading. As a certified zentangle teacher, Klebart enjoys being artistic.

Day Kimball Healthcare offers a multitude of surgical specialties and last year had over 3,200 operating room cases as well as over 2,500 one-day surgeries. Surgeons are board-certified and highly skilled, performing various surgeries that range from general to orthopedic to gastroenterological and more.
