PUTNAM, CT – The Northeast Cancer Crusaders will host the annual Autumn Nights Dinner Dance on Saturday, November 14, 2009 with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m., at the Lodge at Wright’s Mill in Canterbury. Along with a donation to the American Cancer Society, a large portion of proceeds will benefit the Rose Bove LaRose Hematology/Oncology Center at Day Kimball Hospital.

Dr. Jeffrey Gordon, medical director of Hematology/Oncology at Day Kimball Healthcare, said, “Day Kimball Healthcare thanks the Northeast Cancer Crusaders for their wonderful generosity in directly supporting the care we give to people with cancer here in Northeast Connecticut.”

Beginning in 1974, the Autumn Nights Dance has gone through several changes of locations, dates and names, evolving into an annual event that now attracts over 200 guests. Over the years, the Northeast Cancer Crusaders have raised over $500,000 for cancer patients and in 2001, the Crusaders began donating a portion of their profits to Day Kimball Hospital specifically for the purchase of post-mastectomy camisoles that are offered free to all area women who have breast cancer. In 2006, the cancer crusaders began donating additional funds to the Rose Bove LaRose Hematology/Oncology Center and have since given $24,000 for cancer care.

Northeast Cancer Crusader, Linnea Sarantopoulos said, “The Northeast Cancer Crusaders are dedicated to helping people in northeast Connecticut and supporting them in their fight against cancer. Our focus is on supporting patients and families in their direct patient care needs.”

This year’s music will be provided by “Eight to the Bar.” The donation is $45 per person with a cash bar and silent raffle. For tickets please call Linnea Sarantopoulos at (860) 774-5628 or Arlene Baril at (860) 774-5802. Please register by November 9, 2009.
