Woman's Board of Day Kimball Hospital

Thank you for viewing our web page. In 2014, the Woman’s Board celebrated 120 years of service to Day Kimball Hospital. Indeed, it was women who first established the Hospital in 1894

For over a century, women from across Northeastern Connecticut have continued to come together through membership in the Woman's Board to help sustain and grow the health and wellness of our communities.

We are organized for charitable purposes to promote and advance the welfare of the Hospital by being active community ambassadors and by raising funds to meet hospital needs. During our history, we have donated more than $1 million to Day Kimball Hospital. Our current pledge of $71,000 is directed toward the purchase of new anesthesiology and urinalysis equipment. Our last pledge raised more than $100,000 to purchase equipment for the Birthing Center and to help purchase two digital breast imaging systems.

Funds for these commitments come from The Shop at Day Kimball and from various fundraisers sponsored by the Woman’s Board.

The Shop at Day Kimball

The freshly renovated gift shop at Day Kimball Hospital has a wonderful selection of cards, jewelry and unique gift items. Purchases at the gift shop are tax free and complimentary gift wrapping is offered with each sale. All proceeds from sales at the shop go to the Woman’s Board and provide a major source of funding for our pledges to Day Kimball Hospital.

The Gift Shop is operated and managed solely by dedicated volunteers. Volunteering at The Shop is a wonderful opportunity for Woman’s Board members to fulfill their commitment to the organization, however, we warmly welcome volunteers who are not Woman’s Board members. If you would like information on how to volunteer, please stop by and visit with our managers at The Shop or contact Janet Johnson, Volunteer Services Coordinator for Day Kimball Hospital at (860)928-6541, ext. 2279.

The Shop is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
