Day Kimball Health (DKH) has named Bertha Montie, a multi-service technician in the transportation department at Day Kimball Hospital, as its employee of the month for July 2025. Montie joined DKH in June 2024 and has quickly become known for her kindness, warmth, and reliability throughout the hospital.
In her role, Montie is responsible for transporting patients safely and comfortably to their destinations throughout the hospital. Beyond transport, she supports the hospital by delivering essential materials and belongings that support patient care.
“I’m humbled to be recognized for doing a job I love,” said Montie. “What I love most are the patients. I greet them with a friendly smile and a ‘Hey, my friend!’ and chat a little just to see them smile back. For a short time, I like to think they’ve forgotten their worries. To me, it’s about spreading kindness one smile at a time.”
“Bertha’s warmth, kindness, and dedication shine through everything she does,” said Kyle Kramer, CEO of Day Kimball Health. “She not only ensures patients are safe and comfortable, but also lifts their spirits with her positivity. She is an outstanding example of the compassion and excellence that define our team.”
Originally from Glocester, R.I., Montie now lives in East Putnam with her family. She and her husband, her childhood sweetheart of 44 years, have two children, six grandchildren, and recently welcomed her first great-granddaughter. In her free time, Montie enjoys gardening, camping, and caring for her dog, whom her husband lovingly calls their third child.
