The 35th Annual Day Kimball Hospital (DKH) Putnam Bank Golf Classic was held at the Connecticut National Golf Club on July 12. Over 200 golfers and 30 volunteers participated in the event, raising more than $104,000, the net proceeds of which will support technology upgrades and cancer care at Day Kimball Hospital.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout to celebrate the 35th year of our tournament,” said Day Kimball Healthcare Director of Development Kristen Willis. “It’s amazing to see the combination of dedicated donors, hospital staff, and business partners come together to help us exceed our fundraising goal of $80,000 and enable us to continue to provide high quality care to our patients and their families.”
The tournament included opening ceremonies by members of the Manchester Bag Pipers, Jed Otto and tom Leigh, mid-day entertainment featuring Singing Trooper, Sgt. Daniel Clark, an air-cannon ball shoot, and one-man-band Stu Krous to close out the day.
A special highlight from the day was a guest appearance by Ladies Professional Golf Association golfer Megan Khang from Rockland, MA. The up-and-coming twenty-one year old has placed in the top 10 in her last two LPGA tournaments and is well on her way to representing the US on the 2019 Soleheim Cup team with a current ranking of 6th out of the eight top players who qualify. As part of her guest appearance at the DKH Putnam Bank Golf Classic, three lucky members of the Woodstock Academy Girls Golf Team were given the unique and exciting opportunity to play alongside Khang in the afternoon. Kaily LaChapelle, Ciara McKinnon, and Maria Santucci described their day as an “experience of a lifetime”, learning first-hand about what it takes to become a professional golfer on the LPGA tour.
Putnam Bank partnered with Day Kimball Hospital as the title sponsor for the third year in a row, contributing another $25,000 toward Day Kimball Hospital initiatives over the next year.
