Day Kimball Healthcare At Home Employees Recognized with Homecare Hero Awards

02/03/2021

Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH) At Home, a service division of Day Kimball Healthcare, recently named five of its employees as “Heroes at Home” for demonstrating outstanding service in homecare.

DKH At Home began honoring its heroes through the “Hero at Home” award program in 2016, and has recognized over 27 employees since its inception. Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 award ceremony was held virtually to continue the annual tradition of honoring the organization’s employees for their commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care.

“Although we couldn’t all be together for this year’s ceremony, we didn’t want that to stop us from celebrating our homecare heroes,” said Renee Smith, RN, MSN, vice president of post-acute services, Day Kimball Healthcare. “I couldn’t be more proud of our team. Our homecare heroes exemplify the expertise, commitment, and dedication required to do whatever it takes to make sure that our patients and our clients receive the best care possible, especially in light of these challenging times during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

DKH At Home staff members were nominated by their peers who recognized their colleagues for their tremendous efforts in ensuring that the most vulnerable in the Northeast Connecticut community continue to receive the highest quality of care in the comfort of their homes

The following individuals were selected as recipients of the 2020 DKH At Home “Heroes at Home” awards for exceeding the highest standards of quality care and work ethic in the home health field:

The “Office Team Hero” award was presented to Laura Kroll, RN, BSN, community nurse liaison. Kroll was honored for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring field staff have the support they need to provide the best care possible for patients, clients, and families.

Rachel Bamber, licensed social worker, was recognized as a “Homecare Hero” for going above and beyond in meeting the needs of patients in the most adverse situations and for persevering through high caseloads with critical thinking, compassion, and devotion to the patients and families she serves.

The “Homecare and Hospice Field Team Hero” award went to Elaine Marcheterre, RN, BSN, CHPN, for providing exceptional care to patients, as well as unwavering support to her colleagues and team members.

Shannon Julian, homemaker and personal care assistant, was selected as the recipient of this year’s “Personal Care Homemaker and Homecare Hero” award for consistently demonstrating reliability and a strong commitment to delivering outstanding care to Day Kimball HomeMakers’ clients and families.

Renee Cummings, homemaker and personal care assistant, was presented with the “Remarkable Rookie” award. This award is given to an employee who is new to homecare and/or DKH At Home and has already seamlessly transformed into a shining star and valuable member of the team.

The DKH At Home “Heroes at Home” award program is the organization’s way of recognizing individuals who consistently demonstrate values of compassion, excellence and reliability in the homecare field and who go to extraordinary lengths to improve the lives of those they care for.
