Day Kimball Healthcare Names Vanmaly Sangasy, Oncology Department Registered Nurse, Employee of the Month for August
09/12/2019Vanmaly Sangasy, registered nurse in the oncology department at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH), has been named employee of the month for August by DKH.
Sangasy first began working at DKH in August 1993 as a member of the kitchen staff. Since then, she has worked in various departments including medical/surgical, pediatrics, the emergency department, the intensive care unit, and oncology and has over 20 years of experience as a registered nurse. In her role as a registered nurse in the oncology department, Sangasy provides care to critically or chronically ill cancer patients. Her responsibilities include intravenous starts, administering treatments such as chemotherapy, and scheduling patient appointments.
According to her supervisor, Michelle Donahue, DKH Hematology-Oncology Manager, “Vahn is an excellent nurse with a versatile range of skills. Her dedication to her patients is demonstrated every day by the thorough and compassionate care she provides. We feel very lucky to have her on our team!”
In response to being named employee of the month, Sangasy said, “I am humbled and feel honored, but I think and see all of my colleagues who work just as hard, if not more, than me. They are all deserving.”
When asked what she likes most about her job, Sangasy said, “The patients and my colleagues.”
Sangasy was born in Laos but grew up mostly in the U.S. She currently resides in Pomfret with her husband of 20 years, Ty. She has three boys Tarsavanh, Quintavanh, and Quantiwah. Sangasy received her bachelor of science in nursing from Quinnipiac University in 1999. She recently received her master of science in nursing from Spring Arbor University in Michigan.
