Judith Favreau, registered nurse (RN) case manager has been named employee of the month for October at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH).
Favreau, whose experience in the medical field spans 45 years, began her career at DKH in 1972 as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She later became a registered nurse, and in 2000, she became certified in case management. In her current role as RN case manager, Favreau’s responsibilities include evaluating patient needs, authorizing insurance, and managing resources to create the highest quality and most cost-effective discharge care plan for patients. This may include coordinating and monitoring visiting nurse care, outpatient care, or rehabilitation services among others.
At an award ceremony recently held at DKH, Favreau’s supervisor, Sara Ciras, clinical case manager, stated, “Judy consistently delivers great work in a challenging field of nursing. She navigates the patient’s wishes, family choices as well as the physician’s requests to create a discharge plan that all parties can agree upon. She has helped thousands of patients and families transition from the hospital to their next level of care. In addition, she is active on several different committees and balances all of these commitments while producing excellent work. Judy is also quick to volunteer for any need that may arise in the department and she is a great resource, supporting her co-worker's growth at every opportunity.”
When asked how she feels about being named employee of the month, Favreau said, “I am thrilled to have received this honor. There are so many outstanding people working at DKH and I am delighted and humbled to have been chosen as employee of the month.” She added, “I enjoy working with our patients, their families and the entire DKH team. Every day is different and I especially enjoy mentoring new employees.”
