Woman’s Board and DKH 125th Anniversary and Valentine Dinner Dance Touches Hearts

02/08/2019

Day Kimball Healthcare and the Woman’s Board of Day Kimball Hospital celebrated the past and toasted to the future at a 125th Anniversary and Valentine Dinner Dance held at StoneHurst Valley in Hampton on Saturday, February 2.

The red carpet was rolled out at the StoneHurst Mansion with a special “Red Carpet Reception” that preceded the Valentine Dinner Dance. Over 120 guests enjoyed great conversation, food and drink, while listening to amazing live jazz by the Knapp trio.

The event continued with a lively evening of dinner, catered by Black Dog Bar & Grille, and dancing at the Valentine Dinner Dance. The Barns at StoneHurst provided a casual, yet dazzling environment for just under 300 attendees who included the DKH community represented by leadership, doctors, and staff, the Woman’s Board, and local community supporters.

“This event was an opportunity for us to celebrate the history and service of the Woman’s Board and Day Kimball Healthcare with the community in a very special way,” said Kristen Willis, DKH Director of Development. “This milestone anniversary also provided us an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the support of our community. DKH has counted on the generosity of its community since 1894, enabling us to invest in our facilities, medical equipment and technology to improve overall patient experience and outcomes.”

“Our Woman’s Board members did a lot of work to make this event happen,” said Nancy Dziki, President of the Woman’s Board of Day Kimball Hospital. “This year, co-hosting our annual Valentine Dinner Dance with DKH for our combined 125 year anniversary, took the celebration to a whole new level. We had more people than ever; all ages, and from all areas of the community.”

The Valentine Dinner Dance was enhanced this year with Ticker, the dancing heart from the American Heart Association, a real life Cupid, a GIF photo booth, and a large dance floor.

Special thanks to everyone who made the event a success: sponsors, donors, patrons, attendees, the StoneHurst staff, Black Dog Catering, and the Valentine Dinner Dance Committee, co-chaired by Arlene Baril and Linnea Sarantopoulos.

This year, the Valentine Dinner Dance proceeds netted $14,000 toward the Woman’s Board pledge of raising $200,000 for room renovations in the Burdick Family Birthing Center. Day Kimball Healthcare and the Woman's Board were especially honored to have the Burdick family represented at the event in recognition of their generosity and family’s legacy.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of the Woman’s Board who has supported and raised funds to enhance the quality of service of Day Kimball Hospital over these 125 years through the various fundraising they do throughout the year,” said Anne Diamond, President and CEO of Day Kimball Healthcare. “The money raised from this event allows us to continue to provide critical services to our community, during periods of life that are both vulnerable and sacred. We are ever grateful to the community’s support.”
